Love the Skin You’re In

How Can We Nurture Mental Health in a Sea of Hotness and Social Comparison?
Love the Skin You’re In tackles the unique intersection between social media and girls’ mental health. With humour, we journey through contemporary imagery and influencers to critique socially constructed visions of femininity marked by amped up self-objectification and hyper sexualization. Through concrete research, we challenge narratives of empowerment that render girls less powerful—and less happy.
Our superpower? Collective resiliency. Love the Skin You’re In inspires students beyond the social comparison and bullying that erupts from compromising popular and social media messages. The talk, which has reached 100,000 young women on three continents, invites girls to consider the bandwidth of their attention, grow compassionate inner dialogues, recognize their unique substance, complexity, and humanity, and give their intelligence to a greater world that needs their leadership. Young women brand this talk as a spiritual wake-up call.
