Empowering youth to flourish in the digital age
The Youth Resiliency Project is a nonprofit mental health and resiliency project that inspires youth to think critically about the ways in which social and popular media present self-worth, sexuality, bodies, gender, and race.
We recognize that today’s young minds are flooded with self-objectification, social comparison, a loss of direction, and fear. Through our audio-visual presentations, we aim to bring self-compassion, empathy, clarity, and unity to the leaders of tomorrow.

Our Story
For two decades, Brie Mathers has offered Love the Skin You’re In talks about mental health, media literacy, and social construction of masculinity and femininity to middle and high schools across three continents. Nick attended her talk at Brentwood College School in May 2023 and it led to a spark: he saw how powerful it could be to address young men of his age group and realized his own potential as a young leader in the space. Inspired to do some work of his own, he reached out to Brie to share his reflections and ideas, and to inquire about how he could lead a similar talk for boys. Brie supported Nick through his debut TedX talk at McGill, and in the summer of 2024 Nick interned with Love the Skin You’re In. Together, they combed through Brie’s media literacy and mental health content and discussed Nick’s personal experience and insights into the challenges of growing up as a young man. Now Brie and Nick are joining forces to bring The Youth Resiliency Project to schools across Canada and the U.S.!
